We take applications from non-married, practicing Catholics between the ages of 18-28.
You can apply any time during the year before the year you wish you serve, i.e. if you wish to begin with us in August 2021, then you may apply any time after August 2020. You may not apply two or more years in advance, because so much can happen in one year and we need the most up to date information about our applicants as possible.
Yes. NET Ministries is a Catholic ministry which upholds the teachings of the Catholic Church. Since NET ministers in Catholic schools and parishes, you must be a practicing Catholic.
NET team members invite young people to love Jesus and embrace the life of the Church. How they accomplish this depends on what type of team they are on. They receive formation and training in youth ministry, prayer, communication skills, and much more before they are sent out to do ministry.
NET missionaries begin their year with 5-6 weeks of training in St. Paul, Minnessota, USA, starting in August each year. NET teams are commissioned at the end of September and then sent out to begin their ministry in Scotland or the USA. The year includes a break for the Christmas holidays and concludes with the Thanksgiving Mass at the end of May back in St. Paul.
The training, ongoing support, accommodation and travel for volunteers with NET naturally comes at a cost. NET fundraises to cover the majority of that cost. Volunteers are asked to funraise themselves to contribute towards their year. Volunteers are asked to raise £5700 towards a NET year.
While that is a lot of money, we will support you with your fundraising in various ways throughout the NET year so don't let that put you off. If you would like some ideas to begin with please follow this link
If you are considering a year with NET Scotland or would like to know more about us then use this form to give us some details and one of our team will get in touch with you.
Wherever you are in the world, you can apply to volunteer with us. I
